Focused on supplier risk issues for business leaders

About the Author

Robert Shecterle

Hello,

Welcome to @Risk.  I hope you enjoy your time here and contribute to the discussion.

Risk comes from many sources and impacts every part of your supply chain and supplier relationships.  With the growth in regulated and mandated requirements from governments around the world combined with business imperatives for quality, time to market, and cost control, Risk is a central part of effectively managing your supply chains and suppliers.  That’s what we explore here.

A bit about me…I am a 25 year veteran of supply chain strategies, execution, and solutions across industries and geographies.  I began my career in professional services with E&Y helping companies assess supply chain issues and mitigating risk through the design and implementation of approaches, processes and software.  From there I moved on to enterprise supply chain solution strategy and marketing for companies like Oracle, PeopleSoft, Ariba and others.  Add to that my time on the board of directors of the Supply Chain Council and conducting global trade risk research as the leader of the supply chain group at The Aberdeen Group, and you can see that I have a strong foundation and commitment to the topic.

So we have a wealth of topics to continue to explore here on @Risk.  I’m glad you’re joining us on that journey.

    Bob,

I like your blog as the topics covered overlap with mine – I advocate that “thinking like a lawyer” traditionally means reacting to fact or situations, and in accordance with Richard Susskind’s views and my experience, the need for proactive, legal risk managers, has arrived but with few holding an expertise or focus in the area.

Based upon 22 years large firm experience in environmental risk management, and with the opening of my new firm, I find that the market today thirsts for counsel on proactively preventing, mitigating, or knowingly tolerating legal risks.

I will send you an invite via LinkedIn. I would be pleased to entertain the idea of a joint webinar with you covering the substantive side of supply chain risk management, and me the legal side including the use of mitigation tools (for example use of contracts, private mutual aid agreements in the event of disruptions, voluntary participation in C-TPAT, insurance, etc).
