Zepol Releases First-of-its-kind 2009 Port Report
Zepol has created an extremely useful report of the top 50 US ports for port authorities, steamship lines, 3PLs, importers, and suppliers of the United States market.
Titled “The Year in Review: 2009 U.S. Containerized Import Ports Report,” the document includes a list of the 50 U.S. ports based on TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), plus additional details about:
- their foreign port and carrier partners, based upon the reported Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) included on shipments,
- some key consignees who imported significant TEU quantities, according to U.S. Customs,
- the most important products for each port through the first 11 months of 2009, according to US census data, and
- a 12 month trend for each port’s TEU volumes.
The data provides interesting insights about both port traffic and the international trade community. According to the report, Zepol compiled all this information to help your organization plan for 2010 by fully understanding your market.
The 31-page Zepol report is available here (registration required). (Subscribers have access to additional information for each port, carrier, product, and importer at both a transactional and aggregate level.)
